About Us
The Sent glassworks was founded in 1923 by Guglielmo Sent with the idea of creating classic decorations on vases, glasses, tableware, bowls, and other items to adorn homes in classical and Venetian style. Over the years, the glassworks, now run by his grandson Cesare, has explored various techniques, radically changing its style while always remaining true to the "artistic glass" tradition. Classical glassworks were definitively abandoned to focus on contemporary and experimental design. The glassworks has now been transformed into an American-style "glass studio" focused on artistic experimentation. Cesare Sent was born in Murano, where he still lives and works. After mastering the Murano techniques passed down to him by both of his grandfathers, both accomplished glassmakers, he focused his attention on fusion, lampworking, and furnace casting, adding a modern touch to these traditional techniques. His works range from jewelry to sculptures, mirrors to lamps, trays, and vases. His inspiration comes directly from everyday life and the surrounding natural environment. In Venice, it's impossible not to be amazed by the lagoon, which seems to constantly change, demonstrating how water and light interplay, creating unexpected blends of color and magic, which Cesare recreates through the materiality of glass in his objects. Other important elements in his work are joy and lightness of spirit, conveyed through bright, intense colors and shapes that recall the pop spirit typical of the 1960s.
